In the spirit of school and community pride, Governor Mifflin High School held “Come Together Day” on Wednesday, April 27.
The event, organized by the Student Government Association (SGA), consisted of a full day of activities designed to help students learn more and connect with community organizations, while continuing to build upon the school’s student-led spirit initiative, Mustang Nation.
During the morning, students had the opportunity to hear from speaker and musician, Dr. Monte Selby. Several community service organizations, community leaders, service providers, and local businesses will also participate, giving students an opportunity to network, learn more about their community, and discover volunteer opportunities.
Participating groups and individuals include: Aaron’s Acres, American Red Cross, Animal Rescue League of Berks County, Berks Community Action Program, Berks County’s Etchberger Veterans Center, Berks Heim Nursing & Rehabilitation, Brecknock Township, Crime Alert Berks County, Cumru Township Fire Department, Greater Berks Food Bank, Little Acts of Love, Mifflin Community Library, Mifflin YMCA, Mohnton Cumru Lions Club, Nolde Forest Environmental Education Center, Patriotic Sons of America, Reading Hospital and Medical Center, Shady Hollow Assisted Riding, ShelterBox USA, Shillington Borough, Shillington Fire Department, Shillington Police Department, Visions Federal Credit Union, Volunteers in Mission – Bernardine Franciscan Sisters, Pennsylvania Representative Mark Gillen, a representative for United States Congressman Patrick Meehan, and Pennsylvania Senator Judith Schwank.
In the afternoon, students filled Governor Mifflin Stadium for lunch, activities, and games.
