In the midst of a busy career, another aspect of life often unexpectedly enters lives: caring for aging parents. Unlike college, where parents are aware of the timing needed to make advanced plans, aging issues tend to be crisis driven and become a priority without warning.

A team of diverse professionals serving the aging population in Berks County and dedicated to assisting adult children has come together to provide the “Aging Parent Fair.” In conjunction with the Greater Reading Women2Women organization and in partnership with Penn State Health St. Joseph, the “Aging Parent Fair” will provide attendees with financial resources, care alternatives, assistive services and connections to the people and programs who can serve them and their loved ones.

The Aging Parent Fair, a health-fair styled event intended specifically for adult children seeking help, support and resources for their aging loved ones, will be held in the second floor Franciscan Room at Penn State St. Joseph on Thursday, May 5 from 5 to 7 p.m. Professionals from the Berks County Area Agency on Aging, Berks Encore, Berks Veterans Affairs, hospice, home health, in-home caregiving, long term care insurance, elder law, financial services, downsizing and other organizations will be available to answer your questions. Register by calling Wendy at Comfort Keepers at 610-413-1995.
