Fleetwood Girl Scout Brownie Troop 1956 recently took a trip to the Education and Watershed at Berks Nature, at Angelica Park.
They met with Michael Griffith to earn their Girl Scout Brownie Household Elf badge. The girls learned the importance of saving electricity by unplugging things that are not being used (cell phone chargers, microwaves, mixers, etc) to cut down on power plant pollution. Each girl also received a shower timer to help cut down on water waste in their home.
Additionally, the Troop discovered how small pollutants can affect our local watersheds. Their day continued with a beautiful mini hike to learn about the wetlands and local wildlife and how each person, including each of them, plays a huge role in the environment. They concluded their day by creating a chemical free (water/vinegar) cleaning mixture that is safe to use around our house.
“I really want to provide my scouts with the knowledge to be able to make the world a greener place,” said Misty Steiner, their Leader.
