The Kutztown Community Partnership will take over management of the snack stand at the Kutztown Community Swimming Pool as of opening day, May 28, announced Nancy Brooks, KCP Main Street Manager.

“The Kutztown Community Partnership sees this as clearly fitting our mission in that the borough pool is one of the community’s greatest assets,” said Brooks. “To have a regularly available, fully functional snack stand will heighten the overall experience of the pool.”

Options are currently being explored for expanding the offerings and services of the snack stand. Other kinds of food offerings beyond what you would expect at a pool are a possibility. The idea of offering lunch fare to the neighborhood through a window that faces the parking lot is another possibility.

“We may also be able to support off-hours events such as a dip and dance,” said Brooks. “I am sure that our services will evolve as the summer progresses.”

The snack stand will open whenever the pool is in operation from May 28 to Sept. 5.

“It took pretty much the whole borough to get this all put together,” said Brooks. “We’d especially like to thank John Schmoyer, Brian Bailey and Gina Wiand for their considerable effort.”

Borough resident Sarah Brown will take over chairmanship of the KCP Snack Stand Management Committee. She is currently looking for additional volunteers to fill out her group. Those interested can call the KCP office at 484 646-9069 or check the website at kutztownpartnership.com.
