Rep. Ryan Mackenzie (R-Berks/Lehigh) announced on April 29 that volunteer fire and emergency medical services (EMS) companies in the 134th District will share more than $110,000 in state grants.

The dollars are distributed through the Pennsylvania Fire Company and Volunteer Ambulance Service Grant Program, which is funded by state gaming proceeds. The grants are designed to help public safety organizations with the construction and renovation of facilities; purchasing or repairing firefighting, ambulance or rescue equipment; training personnel; or reducing debt.

“Public safety is a core priority of state government,” said Mackenzie. “Making these grants available to the brave men and women who have volunteered to protect us will enable them to more quickly and effectively respond to emergencies.”

Mackenzie’s office contacts eligible departments in the district each year to offer assistance with the grant application process. Any company not listed below should contact Mackenzie’s office at 610-965-9933 for information on how to apply.
