Construction is underway to resurface seven miles of Route 10 between Route 41 (Gap Newport Pike) and U.S. 30 (Lincoln Highway) in West Fallowfield, Highland, Sadsbury townships and Parkesburg Borough, Chester County.

Construction started at the beginning of the month, with PennDOT’s contractor milling the existing deteriorating riding surface and placing new asphalt pavement on Route 10 to seal the roadway and provide smoother travel. Crews milled Route 10 through the night from May 5 to May 6. The contractor will mill and pave Route 10 on Sunday through Thursday nights through the end of May.

This work on Route 10 is part of PennDOT’s $5.2 million project to repair and resurface 21 miles of deteriorated pavement on three state highways in Chester County, with funding from the state’s transportation plan, Act 89.

As part of this project, construction continues to resurface U.S. 1 between Hopewell Road and Route 896 (Newark Road) in East Nottingham, Lower Oxford and Upper Oxford townships. Weekday and Saturday lane closures on U.S. 1 will continue until construction is completed by the end of May.

Lane closures on Waterloo Avenue at U.S. 30 (Lancaster Avenue) in Easttown Township Monday, May 2, through Friday, May 6 allowed for curb ramp installations. The resurfacing of Waterloo Avenue between Sugartown Road and U.S. 30 was completed in 2015.

Allan A. Myers, LP, of Worcester, Montgomery County, is the general contractor on the $5,205,555 project, which is financed with 100 percent state funds.
