On May 21, after Boyertown’s 150th Celebration Block Party, join us at The Other Farm Brewing Company for Berks Opera Company’s After Party with Hot Club of Reading’s “Gypsy Jazz.”
Local members of several Philadelphia-area gypsy jazz groups have joined forces to create Hot Club of Reading. Paying tribute to the style of gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt, the ensemble’s repertoire is primarily Parisian jazz of the 1930s. The rhythmic “pompe” of the guitars coupled with the dark, chromatic gypsy flavor and the swing of early jazz is most compelling.
The band is made up of Trey LaRue on bass, Josh Taylor on guitar and Chris Heslop on the saxophone/clarinet.
The Other Farm Brewing Company is located at 128 E. Philadelphia Avenue, in Boyertown.
Doors open at 9 p.m. Admission includes select pour from The Other Farm Brewing Company. For those under 21, a half-off admission fee will be offered, with non-alcoholic beverages available for purchase, including Italian sodas, hot chocolate and tea.
