On Tuesday, May 17, around 6 p.m., emergency crews were called to the scene of a motor vehicle accident involving entrapment.
According to the State Police of Reading, the driver of 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt fell asleep while traveling west on Hill Church Road in Washington Township, Berks County. The vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a barn before coming to a complete stop.
Eastern Berks Fire Department and Bally Ambulance were dispatched to scene.
Deputy Fire Chief Chris Schaeffer confirmed that the car was half-way into a barn and approximately four feet off the ground, with the driver trapped inside.
Fire crews worked to stabilize the vehicle using high-reach jacks designed for the fire service. They then used a ladder to extricate the driver from the vehicle; no injuries were sustained.
Crews remained on scene while the car was pulled from the building.
