The friends of Marc McKently are getting ready to present the 6th Annual Marc McKently Memorial 5K Run in Pleasantville near Oley. The race will be held Wednesday, June 1, at 7 p.m. at Union Jack’s Inn located at 546 Manatawny Road.
The community is invited to come out to remember and honor the memory of Marc McKently who was tragically killed in a fatal crash on February 9, 2011. McKently was 17 years old and senior at Oley Valley High School.
The wheel-measured 3.1 miles will run on country roads and along a stream through the scenic Oley Valley. The course runs through a Historic Covered Bridge and ends with a challenging finish, according to a recent release.
Registration after May 19 including day of race will be $25 while shirts last and then $20 without a shirt.
All proceeds and donations benefit the Marc McKently Scholarship Fund. This event will be held rain or shine; no refunds. There is an optional
online registration available at www.pretzelcitysports.com until midnight May 28. Nominal service fee applies.
