The Animal Rescue League of Berks County will be the recipient of $2,500 gift as part of CrossKeys Insurance 2016 Giving Network Agency of the Year Award.

Erie Insurance awarded CrossKeys Insurance Inc., Reading, as the 2016 Giving Network Agency of the Year Award for their outstanding community service. The Erie Insurance Giving Network Agency of the Year award recognizes independent agencies that demonstrate exceptional commitment to the community through volunteerism.

In the past year, more than three dozen charities have benefitted from the CrossKeys Insurance donations and volunteer efforts, including serving meals at an annual Veterans Dinner, hosting an annual car wash to benefit Women in Crisis and most recently sponsoring the Berks Country Fest Doggie Dash, a two-mile fun run/walk to benefit the ARL on June 12.

“We are honored that CrossKeys Insurance has chosen the ARL to be part of their Giving Network Agency of the Year Award,” said Liz McCauley, Executive Director of the ARL. “The award demonstrates the continued community support and service from CrossKeys Insurance. This gift will allow the ARL to provide food, shelter and medical services to over 300 animals that are under our current care.”

In honor of the agency’s efforts, Erie Insurance will donate $2,500 to the Animal Rescue League of Berks County on behalf of CrossKeys Insurance.

ARL is located just outside of Reading, Pennsylvania and is the largest open admission shelter in Berks County accepting an average of 6,500 animals annually. The shelter runs at maximum capacity throughout the year, providing adoption programs, spay/neuter clinics, community outreach, education, animal welfare investigation and more. The ARL’s mission is to impact all aspects of humane treatments of animals through quality service, accommodation and education of pet owners and the community.
