The Reading Public Library Children’s Department will sponsor a series of programs entitled “Dog Days of Summer” to teach pet care and highlight the important jobs that dogs can do for humans.

The library is partnering with The Seeing Eye and Search and Rescue Dogs to bring fun, informative programs to young patrons. Programs will be from held in the Children’s section of the Main Library, 100 S. Fifth Street.

Topics with dates and times are as follows:

Read to Clara the Therapy Dog: Practice your reading skills while reading to “Clara” the trained therapy dog, on July 20 and Aug. 17 at 4 p.m.

Seeing Eye Dogs: Meet a seeing eye dog in training and learn about their important work on July 18 at 1 p.m.

Search and Rescue Dogs: Learn how these smart dogs find people who are in trouble on Aug. 8 at 1 p.m.

Programs are intended for children 12 and under and their families. No registration is needed. For more information, call 610-655-6350.
