VIDEO: Winners announced for Pottstown’s first In Focus film festival

POTTSTOWN >> Between 75 and 100 people attended the final gala celebration of the first-ever Pottstown In-Focus film festival Friday at Steel River Playhouse.

A portion of High Street in front of the theater was shut-down for a truly “red carpet” experience.

But of all those revelers and artists, only 10 were named winners in 12 categories.

The Hill School garnered three first-place awards in the “best music video, best cinematography and best sound design” categories.

Another school – Pottstown Middle School – won in the 18-and under category for “A Love Letter to Pottstown.”

Adult and Pottstown native Chad Repko won the award of the same for his entry “A Love Letter.”

Robert John Gilchrist won “best performance” for his film “Seagulls.”

The film “My Voice,” by Sterling Whitfield, won the “best interview” award.

“Pottstown CARES,” put together by that group and The Hill School, won the “best documentary.”

The “science fiction” category was won by David Traverso for his film “The Prodigy.”

“Dear Brooklyn,” by Jonathan Winberg, won the “heath and wellness award.”

The comedy and satire category was won by Alex Moscaritolo for “One Traveler Too Many.”

And Adam Evans won the “fiction” category with his film “Pine Tree.”

Michael Lenhart, director of the Pottstown Parks and Recreation Department and one of the event organizers, said while there are no official plans for next year; “though we are in general agreement that we would like to proceed for 2017.”
