Kutztown will travel back in time to hold its second annual Kutztown Kruizz on Main Street July 30.

The Kruizz will include a display of restored classic cars on Main Street from the 30s to present day. A concert will follow in the park performed by the locally popular Fabulous Grease Band. To end the eventful day, the auto related movie “Cannonball Run” will be shown under the stars in Kutztown Park.

“It’s a fun experience to be a part of by taking the same cars and crowd to the park to enjoy the concert and watch a movie underneath the stars,” said Nancy Brooks, Kutztown Community Partnership’s Main Street Manager. KCP will sponsor the event.

Businesses and restaurants will offer specials during the day along Main Street during the Kruizz and local bands will be located on several stages throughout the town playing oldies music.

The Kutztown Main Street Inn will open its covered garden patio for the first time by celebrating local resources. The food, the chef, the musician and the drinks will all be of local origin.

The Firefly Bookstore will host a book release for the newest Harry Potter book, “The Cursed Child,” at midnight.

All proceeds for the event will benefit Kutztown Strong, a community coalition formed as a result of concern about the enticement of substance abuse among young people in Kutztown and surrounding communities. Their mission is to create a safe and fun environment for young people in those critical after-school hours and to educate them about the hazards of experimenting with drugs and alcohol.

The first 200 drivers to register will be given Dash Plaques and will be eligible for a cash drawing. Goodie bags will be given to the first 300 as well. There will also be a 50/50 raffle. The event is free for anyone not entering his or her car in the cruise.

Registration will take place from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. in the KU Administrative Parking Lot and cars will be staged for display on Main Street from 12 to 5 p.m.

Following the main event, the Fabulous Grease Band will perform a concert in the park at 7 p.m. The group was part of the Kruizz last year and their concert scored the biggest attendance of the year for the band shell.

To finish off the day, the movie will play under the stars in the park at 9 p.m. following the concert.
