State Police of the Hamburg station conducted a stationary sobriety checkpoint between July 9 at 10 p.m. and July 10 at 3 a.m. on Krumsville Road in Greenwich Township.

Approximately 100 motorists were contacted, resulting in two people being arrested for suspicion of DUI. One of those individuals was currently suspended for DUI and had an open container in his vehicle. Several other motorists received traffic citations for equipment and other miscellaneous traffic violations.

The PA State Police will continue its aggressive campaign against drug and/or alcohol impaired motorists that are operating vehicles on the roadways within this commonwealth. Troopers are more prepared and receive more advanced training, now more than ever, in the detection of these impaired motorists.

Police investigate four-vehicle collision

State Police from the Hamburg station are investigating a collision involving four vehicles that occurred on July 12 at 2 p.m. on I-78 eastbound in Windsor Township.

The collision occurred as the first vehicle was traveling eastbound and struck the rear end of the second vehicle. The second vehicle was stopped due to a temporary construction zone project in that location.

The second vehicle subsequently struck the rear of the third vehicle, a commercial motor vehicle. During this chain of events, a fourth vehicle was struck, which was stopped in the left lane.

The road was partially closed for approximately two hours. There were multiple injuries and all were transported to area hospitals. There are no updates on the extent of these injuries at this time.
