East Penn Manufacturing security guard Matthew Allmendinger, 21, Boyertown, was arrested on theft charges for allegedly stealing from the company he was hired to provide security services.

Allmendinger was arrested at the Richmond Township East Penn Manufacturing facility while reporting for work as a security guard on July 16.

According to a Fleetwood Borough Police report, East Penn Manufacturing reported to Fleetwood Police that between June 17 and July 16, an unknown person or people removed eight laptop computers, two docking stations and related miscellaneous computer items from various locations throughout the Richmond Township facility. The stolen computer equipment was reported to be worth more than $11,000.

Fleetwood Police reported that two of the stolen computers were found to have been sold by Allmendinger at a pawn shop in Pottstown.

“Investigation determined that the accused worked for the security company contracted to provide security services at the East Penn Manufacturing facility in Richmond Township,” reported Fleetwood Police Officer Dale Ulshafer in the report. “At the time of his arrest he was found to be in possession of two stolen laptop computers and two stolen docking stations.”

Allmendinger cooperated with police which led to the recovery of the other four stolen laptop computers, according to the report.

He was transported to the Berks County Central Processing Center and released to the custody of the Berks County Sheriff’s Department.
