All events at The Center at Spring Street are open to anyone 55 years of age or older unless otherwise noted as open to the public. The Center at Spring Street is located at 200 West Spring Street, in Boyertown. For events requiring reservations, or for additional information, call 610-367-2313.

Tuesday, Aug. 2

BINGO Nite (OPEN TO THE PUBLIC): 6-9 p.m. Doors open 4 p.m. with refreshments available for purchase including hamburgers and hot dogs, soup, chips, a variety of candy, ice cream and desserts. Bingo begins 6 p.m. and prizes include meat, grocery and small money prizes. A 50/50 is played and door prizes are given out during the evening. There is a cost. All Center members receive a free card with their Center membership card.

Wednesday, Aug. 3

“Golden” Texas Hold ‘Em: 1-4 p.m. A “Golden” Texas Hold ‘Em Tournament is held on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Wednesday afternoon of each month at The Center. All levels of players invited but knowledge of the game is necessary. Nominal entry fee required to play. Winners take home cash prizes. If interested, please call. Those wishing to also join us for lunch on the day of the tournament should call the Center at least two days in advance to make meal reservations and plan to be present at 11:30 a.m. for the meal. The suggested meal donation is $2.

Early Bird Breakfast: 8 a.m. A hot, delicious and fresh breakfast is waiting for you every Friday at The Center. Breakfast is served with coffee, tea, juice, cereal, toast, pastry or muffin and fruit. There is a nominal fee. Breakfast is served promptly at 8 a.m. Please call to make a reservation at least two days in advance. Menu is subject to change. Aug. 5 menu is croissant sandwich (egg, bacon, cheese) OR scrambled eggs, hash browns, bacon.

Monday, Aug. 8

Boyertown Area Multi-Service Tour: 10-11 a.m. Whether new to the area or a long-time resident of the community, come join our staff and volunteers for an engaging tour of Multi-Service and The Center at Spring Street and learn about the many services we provide, programs to get involved with and the numerous ways you can lend support to this agency. Even if you have toured our facility before, we invite you to join us and find out what is new and exciting under the Multi-Service roof. Please call at least two days in advance to make a tour reservation. Those 55 years of age and older also wishing to join us for lunch on that day should indicate that they wish to make a lunch reservation. The suggested meal donation is $2.

Educational Program: “6 Wise Lessons on Aging” by Linda Detweiler, Chestnut Knoll at Home Services, 1-2 p.m. Aging gracefully can present challenges. Role models like Betty White or George Clooney can show us how it’s done. The animal realm can teach some things as well. Many amazing creatures can teach us a lot about finding pleasure in life. Educational programs are free. Those wishing to also join us for lunch on that day should call at least two days in advance to make meal reservations and plan to be present at 11:30 a.m. for the meal. Wednesday, Aug. 10Educational Program: “The Conversation Project” by Beth Hiriak, Southeastern Home Health Services, 10-11 a.m. Educational programs are free of charge. Musical Entertainment: Ed Podziomek, Guitarist, Vocalist, 1-2 p.m. Ed Podziomek plays and sings a variety of favorite tunes including many country standards. Entertainment programs are free of charge. Those wishing to also join us for lunch on that day should call at least two days in advance to make meal reservations and plan to be present at 11:30 a.m. for the meal. Educational Program: “History Revisited” by Darius Puff, 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. Participants will view a segment of the PBS produced video “We Shall Remain – America through Native Eyes.” Darius Puff, a local Lenape historian whose heritage includes Lenape and English, will facilitate a discussion following the film viewing. Educational programs are free of charge. “Everybody Needs a Little Humor” – Stamp Collection by Russ Foss: 10-11:30 a.m., 64 pages of humor on stamps collected from 40 different countries. Mr. Foss’s display will cover 3 tables.
