Berks County Dairy Princesses spoke, sang, told jokes and tap-danced their way into the hearts of the Shartlesville Lions Club members as they presented the message of the importance of milk in everyone’s life.

The trio includes Brittany and Samantha Haag, Dairy Princess and Alternate Dairy Princess, respectively, from Mohrsville, and six-year-old Chloe Schealer, Lil’ Miss Dairy Princess, from Auburn.

The crown-wearing threesome was introduced by club secretary Shirley Berger, who shared some information about the princesses.

Brittany Haag, Dairy Princess, is a recent Delaware Valley College graduate with a degree in Agriculture Business and she has served as intern with the PA Farm Bureau.

Her sister Samantha, Dairy Princess Alternate, graduated from Schuylkill Valley High School this year and will continue her education at Reading Area Community College, focusing on horticultural training, with the goal of one day operating her grandparents’ orchard in Strausstown.

All three focused on the importance of milk in one’s diet with sparkling smiles that matched their crowns, as Princess Brittany opened their joint presentation.

Princess Samantha led the Lions through a 40-item dairy world word scramble, giving token prizes to the top scorers.

Rising first grader Chloe sang a song and told some jokes that made members also think about dairy, including: Why did the cow cross the road?

The obvious answer: To get to the “udder” side.

Then came the finale with the tap-dancing Princess Brittany who focused on the healthy components of milk via a display board and her tap-dancing feet underscoring what dairy can contribute to a healthier life.

She gave the Lions words to live by in that presentation, telling them, “Make sure you get your three servings of dairy every day to have strong bones and teeth.”
