Journey Cafe and Zion’s Church in Hamburg members put their paint brushes to work this summer during Reach Out 9. The group painted the bathrooms and the large pavilion at Etchberger Memorial Park in Hamburg. They also improved and painted benches along the Legion ball field.

“This is the first year the group’s week-long service project was solely in Hamburg. The group also organized Random Acts of Kindness throughout the Borough,” said Hamburg Borough Manager Marisa C. Lenceski. “The Borough is fortunate to have a beautiful park facility. Any time a group comes together to help assist us with improvements and maintenance, we are so very grateful for their service to the community. The Reach Out 9 mission group went above and beyond this week and we cannot thank them enough for all of their hard work.”

Lenceski said the volunteers did a wonderful job.

“Everything looks amazing down at the park, everything that they did,” said Lenceski.

Volunteers included Greta Bailey, Katie Klouser, Rebecca Klouser, Kamryn Smith, Ada Bailey, Aaliyah Stump, Taylor Rymshaw, Nolan Rodriguez, Kyle Frymyer, Shawn Wesner, Isaiah Blatt, Rebecca Blatt, Christian Perry, Silas Bausher, Maddie Bailey, Sage Bausher, Brenden Livinghouse, Samual Marshall, Tyler Perry, Isaac Mengel, Josh Mengel, Colton Werley, Jacob Metcalfe, Priscilla Faller, Bev Sander, Larry Wentzel, Kaylum Reppert, Daylynn Reppert, Trenton Metcalfe, Richard Seyfert, Dan Bailey, Katie Bailey and Justin Wilman.

Lenceski said volunteer contributions are very important to the borough.

“We’re stretched thin every summer. This is the busiest time of year we have with our Public Works Department,” said Lenceski.

She said that one of Hamburg Borough’s big priorities is maintaining the facility at the park.

“Any help that we can get is greatly appreciated,” said Lenceski.

Hamburg Borough supplied the materials for the project.

“We could always use extra man power,” she said.
