EXETER >> Exeter Police are asking Route 422 drivers to be extra careful after a road rage incident caused a rollover crash Thursday.

Police stated on the department’s Facebook page that during rush hour, an aggressive driver “brake checked” another driver. The woman, who police did not identify, then hit her brakes quickly and lost control of her vehicle. The vehicle rolled several times before coming to a stop on the side of Route 422, police said.

The woman was able to walk away from the accident with only minor injuries.

The suspect, who had been driving a black Ford pickup truck continued along Route 422, according to police.

Police are now attempting to locate the suspect and are asking that anyone with information on the accident or the suspected truck call Exeter Police at 610-779-1529 or Facebook message them.

“We ask that you be extra careful on 422,” read the post. “Even with our enforcement efforts, there are still aggressive drivers out there. So drive defensively, take your time and be kind to others on the road.”

Aggressive driving behaviors include speeding, tailgating, driving slowly in the passing lane and other behaviors. These types of driving behaviors account for more than half of all fatal crashes, according to AAA.

In order to avoid confrontation with an aggressive driver, AAA recommends the following:

* Avoid eye contact with angry drivers.

* Don’t respond to aggression with aggression.

* If you feel you are at risk, drive to a public place such as a police station, hospital or fire station.

* When you park, allow room so that you can pull away safely if someone approaches you aggressively.

* Use your horn to attract attention but remain in your locked vehicle.

* If you are confronted, stay as calm and courteous as possible.

* If you feel threatened, call 911.
