The 2nd Annual Festival For Our Veterans will be hosted by the Honey Brook American Legion Riders Post 422 at St. Benedicts Picnic Grove, 2020 Chestnut Hill Road, Mohnton, 12 to 8 p.m.

“Over the years, we’ve been apart of many events to raise money for our veterans and felt instead of doing multiple small events, we wanted to do one big event. Therefore the festival came to be,” said Legion Rider Mark Hoagland. “The whole purpose of this event is to indeed, thank our veterans for their service and get the whole community involved including the kids because quite frankly in my opinion, our veterans do not get thanked enough, apart from Veterans Day and Memorial Day.”

(Rt. 10 entrance). For a $15 donation, enter the raffle for the chance to win a 2016 HD Street Bob at 6 p.m.

The rain or shine event features music is by Wheelchair Getaway and Four Faces West. There will be food vendors, door prizes, 50/50, activities for the kids. Join us as we honor our veterans. Ceremony starting at 1 p.m. to say thank you to veterans. Note: Buying a bike raffle ticket includes free admission into the event (if bought prior to the event).

“In last year’s event, we raised up to a total of $3,000, and hopefully the goal for this year is to overcome our standing total from this past year. It would be absolutely incredible to raise around $5,000, yet any amount of money is satisfactory,” he said.

Proceeds to benefit veterans and their families.

“I hope people that aren’t truly committed to our veterans, walk away with a new-found respect for our veterans and very much so understand that the veterans are in need and sometimes a simple thank you goes a long way,” said Hoagland. “Along with those who already have this mind set, will continue to support this cause. Yet basically, I’m really hoping that people leave this event wanting to come back next year.”

“For those people interested in coming to the event, please come out and join us to honor our veterans and witness a ceremony that will be starting between 1 and 1:30 p.m. in which we will have an honor guard in addition to someone singing the national anthem and quest speakers in regards to our veterans. In all honesty, I along with others strive to just say thank you.”
