COLEBROOKDALE >> A woman was pronounced dead after a one-vehicle crash late Wednesday night.

Ashley Harvey, 22, of Pennsburg, was pronounced dead at 4:40 a.m. Thursday following an accident on Route 73 that left another person, Adam Scott McIlvee, 23, of Oley, seriously injured.

The cause of death was multiple blunt force trauma injuries sustained from the crash, according to the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office, which conducted an autopsy on Thursday. The manner of death was ruled an accident.

The crash occurred at around 10:44 p.m. on the 700 block of Philadelphia Avenue (also known as Route 73), according to Colebrookdale Police. The vehicle had been travelling west when the driver lost control at a bend and struck a guardrail along the eastbound lane, police said.

When police and emergency personnel arrived, both occupants were outside the vehicle. McIlvee suffered serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to Reading Hospital Trauma Center. Harvey was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead, police said.

Police did not reveal who was behind the wheel at the time of the crash.

Police stated Thursday they will not be releasing any further information on the accident and the investigation is still ongoing.
