The Mifflin Community Library will present The Sin City Band in a free concert on Sunday, Aug. 14, 6 to 8 p.m. in the Mohnton Memorial Park Bandshell, Walnut Street, Mohnton, for the final performance of its 2016 Summer Concert Series.

The Sin City Band has been traveling from New England to Colorado playing their blend of old-time country, folk and early rock-and-roll since 1974. Their music has taken them from The Grand Opera House to The Grand Bahamas, and the most current description of their style is “Americana,” although they prefer the label “Barrelhouse & Balladry.” They also have a dozen compact discs of original music.

For this final concert, Mifflin Community Library has partnered with the Mifflin Community Food Ministry (a ministry of Zion Evangelical Congregational Church) to collect donations of nonperishable food items for distribution to local families and individuals in need.

Bring a lawn chair or a blanket to relax and enjoy the concert. Food is available at the snack bar in the park. In case of rain, the concert will be held at St. John’s Parish House, One Front Street Plaza in Mohnton.

Mifflin Community Library receives state arts funding support through a grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency. PPA is administered in this region by Berks Arts Council.

Further support for Mifflin Community Library’s 2016 Summer Concert Series has been provided by Mifflin Area businesses.
