Sept. 10, Applebee’s(R) Flapjack Fundraiser Breakfast will be held to support homeless veterans. The fundraising event is sponsored by Knights Of Columbus Chester County Assembly. There is a charge. Held 8 to 10 a.m. at Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar, 3479 East Lincoln Highway, Thorndale, all proceeds will benefit homeless veterans, Operation Base Cecilia in Coatesville. Valid only at participating restaurant. Ticket valid for pancake event only. Applebee’s menu items are not included as part of purchase.

In cooperation with Veterans MultiService Center and partner agencies, Operation Base Cecelia (OBC) in Coatesville locates, then removes veterans and their families from their homeless condition, providing them with a variety of support services to get them back into society’s mainstream. Their core services include counseling that involves developing and implementing an individualized service plan, securing permanent housing and assisting with enrollment for health care, employment and education benefits.

In 2015, OBC placed more than 335 veterans in permanent housing. In OBC’s Chester County service area, there are still more than 110 homeless veterans and families that have been identified and which are now on the radar screen of OBC.

These veterans need our help. They come with little, if anything, and need almost everything to get back on their feet. The Pancake Breakfast fundraiser at Appleby’s on September 10 will help in that direction.
