The Foundation for Boyertown Education

The Foundation for Boyertown Education (BAEF) is pleased to introduce Tess Melchior as its executive director. BAEF, an independent nonprofit organization, is dedicated to providing a source of financial support to fund innovative educational programs and extracurricular initiatives for the students of the Boyertown Area School District.

“Anyone alive and well-associated with our community knows Tessi from her past leadership at the Gilbertsville and New Hanover YMCA’s and her most recent position at St. John’s,” offered Greg Herb, president of The Foundation for Boyertown Education (BAEF). “We are fortunate to have her directing the efforts of the Foundation; her positive energy and enthusiasm are well-known and respected by all who know her and have worked with her.”

Melchior brings a lifetime dedication to the Boyertown community, a good sense of the community’s needs along with the openness to changes the community needs to move forward in the 21st century. A graduate of Boyertown Area Senior High School and Kutztown University, majoring in Elementary and Early Childhood Education, she is eager to bring the Foundation for Boyertown Education from its “infant state” to one of robust health capable of maintaining the integrity and educational excellence of the Boyertown Area School District.

“The Foundation for Boyertown Education wants to provide the financial support to innovative programs that the teaching and extra-curricular staff recommends without putting undue burden on the taxpayers,” Melchior explains.

“Just this year, Chad Roth, technology instructor at the high school, proposed a new class offering for the 2016-2017 school year-an Advanced Robotic and Automation class in which the foundation helped to fund the robotic kits needed to offer this class. These kinds of initiatives can be funded by ‘growing’ the Foundation, the intent of our fundraising efforts,” she said.

Building awareness of the Foundation’s mission, creating partnerships, and collaborating with other local non-profits and community stakeholders to ensure the viability and financial support for all of Boyertown Area School District’s educational programs are priorities for Melchior who will be reaching out to school board members and personnel, community leaders, and businesses for help in growing the Foundation.

She wants to see Boyertown’s teaching staff, district administrators, students, and community volunteers involved in the Foundation’s development through their participation in the Foundation’s major activities. The Foundation will host its inaugural golf tournament on Monday, October 10 2016 at Twin Ponds Golf Club, and a looks forward to its fourth annual basketball game featuring the Harlem Wizards.

Melchior looks to establish “Intent to Bundle” sponsorship opportunities to fund programs and activities. “I want individuals, groups, and businesses to let me know how they’d offer to support our programs, how they can support our programs, and how often they prefer to be approached,” she explained. “Financial support is one way; volunteer support is another. We’re always eager for volunteer support; we can use all the help we can get!” she concluded.

Golf Outing 2016: The Foundation for Boyertown Education’s inaugural golf outing, sponsored by Twin Ponds Golf Club, is scheduled for Monday, October 10, 2016, to be held at Twin Ponds Golf Club, 70 Gilbertsville Road, Gilbertsville, PA 19525. Registration is set for 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. Registration fees are non-refundable.
