For the fourth year in a row, local celebrities will compete to see who has the best dairy cow. The Oley Valley Community Fair association is hosting its annual Celebrity Dairy Showmanship Contest on Friday, Sept. 16 at 6:30 p.m. Pepsi is sponsoring the event.
Fair-goers are welcome to come and cheer on their favorite celebrity, and see just how skillful they are at presenting their cow to a panel of judges.
Celebrities will include Stephen LeVan, the Oley Township Auditor Chairman, Dennis Hoshall, a local veterinarian, Amandus Reichert, the Oley Township Municipal Authority, Karen Dobson, the 2015 Dairy Showmanship Contest champion, Harold Hoch from the Reading Eagle, Howard Stoltzfus, the Oley Fair Contractor, Scott Detar of Mallie Falconaro & Company, Kacey Rice, an Oley High School Agriculture Teacher, Kelly Spatz, the Oley Valley Heritage Association President, Jane Guldin from Oley Valley Feed, and Scott Swavely of Swavely’s Garage.
The winner of this year’s Overall Heaviest Pumpkin competition will also serve as a celebrity in the showmanship contest.
All participants will receive a blue ribbon, while a plaque will be awarded to a runner-up and a Grand Champion Winner.
