The Zion Spies Evangelical Lutheran Church held their 4th Annual “Cruise 4 Kids” Car Show & Apple Harvest Festival on Saturday, Sept. 3.
This year’s edition of the show was blessed with fantastic weather and attracted 46 entries, several vendors and numerous spectators. The event was participant and spectator judged and the vehicles were registered in five classes; Antique, Classic, Street Rod, Import and Motorcycle. Trophies were awarded for each class.
Receiving the unique vintage gas pump trophies at day’s end were Reg & Nancy Schielfly (Antique), Norm & Lisa Bradley (Classic), Jim Hawkins (Street Rod), Chad Colfer (Import) and Carl Hess (Motorcycle).
Event organizers are hoping to add an additional class or two for next year, possibly Custom and/or Truck. Veterans attending the event were recognized and were offered a free hot dog and drink. Numerous individuals and church groups worked together to make this a successful event.
All of the proceeds from the event will be used to sponsor area children to attend Bear Creek Day Camp held at Zion Spies Evangelical Lutheran Church. Bear Creek Camp is a week long day camp offered to area children tuition free. This past July, 38 children ranging from kindergarten to 6th grade attended the day camp.
