Lions International District Governor Gus Meyer III made his visit to the Shoemakersville Area Lions Club on Thursday, Sept. 8 at Hoss’s Steak and Seafood House, Leesport. District Governor Meyer is from Chester County and is a member of the Paoli Lions Club. He spoke of his experience in June 2016 while attending the Lions International Convention in Fukuoka, Japan at which time Chancellor Bob Corlew was installed as Lions International President and President Corlew’s theme for the 2016-2017 years is “New Mountains to Climb.” District Governor Meyer also spoke of his work with the Bing Miller Foundation, where he serves as President and is asking each club in the District to donate $500 to the Foundation. He is also challenging each club in the district to collect 250 pairs of used eyeglasses.

District Governor Meyer was introduced at the Shoemakersville Area Lions Club meeting by Past District Governor Robert Argot who is serving at Zone Chairman of Zone 1-A, which includes Frystown, Hamburg, Mt. Aetna, Rehrersburg, Sharltlesville, Shoemakersville Area, and Strausstown Lions Clubs. Cleta Borkey, first Vice President, conducted the meeting.
