Sept. 17Basket Bingo Fundraiser for the Kempton Fire Co.: All baskets are filled with items and there will also be door prizes. Doors open at noon, games begin at 1:30. $20 a ticket which includes all 33 games. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. All proceeds benefit the volunteer firefighters.

Sept. 18Author Meet and Greet: Hamburg Public Library, 35 N. 3rd St., Sept. 18 at 6:30 p.m. Meet-and-Greet, and book signing with Karla Jensen, author of “Nobody’s Hero” which tells the story of Del Schultz, a Marine who served in World War II. Schultz, who grew up in Wisconsin, learned the mindset of “kill or be killed”.

Sept. 19Spaghetti Dinner Benefit: all proceeds go to Hamburg School District music teacher Christine Ryan to help ease the expenses of an elongated recovery from surgery. Spaghetti Dinner with musical performances from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sept. 19 at Hamburg High School cafeteria. Sept. 22Star Watch: 6:30 p.m. at Berks County Heritage Center, 1102 Red Bridge Road in Bern Twp. Free. Join the Berks County Astronomical Society for a glimpse at the night sky. Program starts inside followed by a chance to look through telescopes at the stars in the sky.

Sept. 23Museum Day Live!: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (last scheduled tour at 2 p.m.) at Berks County Heritage Center, 1102 Red Bridge Road in Bern Twp. Free. Registration for ticket at Smithsonian.com/museumday. The Gruber Wagon Works and the C. Howard Hiester Canal Center will open their doors free of charge along with over 1,400 other participating venues for the 12th annual Museum Day Live. Hosted by Smithsonian magazine, this one day event allows people all across the country to learn more about their favorite participating museums free of charge. The Heritage Center previously participated in the Museum Day Live event and will do so again, providing the perfect opportunity for people to learn more about the local histories of the Gruber Wagon Works and the C. Howard Hiester Canal Center. The Museum Day Live! Ticket will be available to download beginning in August at Smithsonian.com/museumday. Visitors who present the ticket will gain FREE entrance for two people, for one day only. One ticket is permitted per household, per e-mail address.

Sept. 24Pastor David Kistler’s 60th Ordination Anniversary: We are celebrating Pastor David Kistler’s 60th anniversary of ordination on Sunday, Sept. 24 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 99 Church St., Hamburg. Special recognition of his ministry at the 10:15 worship service, followed by a luncheon in his honor. Pastor Kistler and his wife Delores continue to faithfully serve in our parish and the larger church. Please join us to celebrate this important milestone with Pastor Kistler.

Oct. 14Phantoms Game: The HAHS Marching Band has been invited to perform on the concourse of the PPL Center prior to a Phantoms game!
