Whether you’re liberal, conservative, libertarian or a Green party member, on the eve of selecting the next American president there are some things to consider. Your vote is more than a just tally for a candidate; it’s a referendum on the future of our country.

As the polls bear out, there is a palpable sentiment that echoes distrust and frustration at the direction the country is moving. Is there a name for what’s going on? Let’s consider liberal progressivism.

We know our country was founded on the principles of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness as endowed by our Creator, and all of us are created equally. However, liberal progressives would have you believe these things have nothing to do with God. While God has been altogether removed from the picture, man has inserted himself as the arbiter of liberties.

Through progressivism, an elitist’s vision believes man can perfect society, not unlike a better car or improved technology. It’s the new social religion. Some believe liberty is no less than having free license and also believe in a God-given right to tell citizens what to do and think, not unlike the thought police in George Orwell’s, 1984. Moral decay notwithstanding, free license leads to nothing less than anarchy.

As a means of driving a wedge from the founding principles of liberty, liberally inspired revisionists are changing the face of history. Did you know that history books are being rewritten to teach kids today that America is an illegitimate country? They are telling children that the holocaust never existed and have expunged it right from the history books. America is being painted in a poor light as though the country should be ashamed of itself. Just like communist propaganda indoctrination is used to mollify the masses into a politically correct stupor (easier to control that way), America is on the road one day to this same end through political correctness.

In the pursuit of a better species is the notion that everyone’s outcomes be equal and is tantamount to this new world order. It imparts a sense of universal oneness – a spirit that we are all united by our very essence and that man is indebted to do away with the egregious inequality where class distinction is mitigated. This drives out the need to employ attributes such as natural talents and abilities, personal drive, initiative, ambition, creativity, endurance, work ethic, etc. It sucks up the human spirit and further dehumanizes by thwarting efforts to rise up to a productive lifestyle all while eschewing capitalism as a valid means of entrepreneurialism and mode of free enterprise.

With this progressive mindset, inner cities run by liberal progressives through political expedience have never been more than contemporary plantations for the underclass. Their “help” has been a source of false hope for decades. Political elites throw out enough of this hope to keep the masses at arm’s length from the coveted prize. The gold ring is dangled, but it’s always just out of reach. The underprivileged have been duped for so long that they’ve begun to believe the lies and are living a self-fulfilling prophecy that they need the government-for everything. The idea is to keep them holding out for more so to keep the elites in power. Yet people have more resourcefulness than they realize, though it will never be found under a progressive leadership that wishes to create a means to spread their “beneficence” into a modern day false nirvana and squelch anything less.

Americans do not need a big, bloated mother government to depend on; they need freedom, education, and the means to cultivate a vital family unit and keep it intact, which is the single most important building block to a healthy functioning society.

I’m saddened by those who don’t understand that when man inserts himself as the standard by which all things are measured, such as with socialism, communism, or globalism, things are doomed to failure. That they don’t see the dehumanizing thwart of the human spirit in such environs, alongside the self-centered sin of mankind that deifies man and ignores God, is blind and short-sighted.

The fallacy that man is able to perfect himself is not only presumptuous, it’s scary. Armed with this attitude, it would appear the goal of a progressive movement is to take control – as the leaders see fit. The desire of power to lead the masses into a social utopia is a dangerous pursuit. Hasn’t this been done before…and to such disastrous results?

Man cannot and never will be able to improve upon himself or change his own heart-that is, not without a spiritual overhaul. Our nature will always remain as savage as our ancestors; it’s just masked by innovations, better haircuts, and flashier clothes.

So what does this have to do with the upcoming election?

So fortunate we are to live in a nation where “We the People” are the sovereign and have the opportunity to partake in our God-ordained government. How fortunate we are to be able to contribute to society in this way. By casting our votes, we’ll be exercising our right as well as our free will. By holding our leaders responsible, by keeping their feet to the fire, we can demonstrate our desire to be a Godly nation by being the salt and light that God calls us to be.

The question to ask ourselves before we pull the lever is: Just how much do we value our liberty?
