EXETER >> Laura Carson has been a friend of the Exeter Community Library for over a decade. In 2004 she began assisting Children’s Librarian Laura C. Kauffman during our Summer Reading Program, then held at the Jacksonwald Elementary School.

Over the years she has put in many volunteer hours, served on the Library Board of Directors, served as the president of the Friends of the Exeter Community Library, is our biggest social media fan, and, simply put, is a very loyal patron.

Carson considers the library her second home. It was one of the first places she brought her brand new baby daughter to introduce her to the librarians who cooed and held her. Upon relocating to a new area Laura immediately locates the closest Public Library. She feels that it is the best place to feel included in a community, to meet new people, make friends, and find playmates for children. We could not agree more! Building a stronger community is essential and one of the most enjoyable benefits of regularly visiting your local public library.

Carson has a degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. Most recently she worked as a Preschool Teacher for four year olds at Community UCC Preschool. Laura truly has fun and cherishes working with young children. You will often times find Laura at the Children’s Librarian Desk and leading Sleepytime Storytimes on Wednesday evenings as well as Saturday Storytimes. We can’t wait to begin our enhanced Saturday Storytimes that will include Activity Centers.

Each Saturday, Storytime will expand to include two or three centers that may include crafting, science, math and sensory activities corresponding to that week’s chosen theme. We hope to see you there beginning Sept. 24. A full schedule is available at the Children’s Circulation desk and on our website: www.berks.lib.pa.us/sxt. Call 610-406-9431 for further information. Come and introduce yourself to Laura Carson soon!

The Exeter Community Library welcomes Laura Carson to our staff. She is sure to be a treasured asset to the library as well as the community!
