Amity Police Det. Jeffrey Smith was sworn into service on Oct. 5, by Magisterial District Judge Victor Frederick IV, Esquire, at the Amity Township Board of Supervisors meeting.

“He was the best choice to take the agency [Amity Police Department] to the next level – where it needs to be,” said Police Chief Andrew J. Kensey.

The board unanimously approved Smith’s promotion to sergeant at its Sept. 7 meeting.

Kensey said Smith had satisfactorily completed all of the qualifying pre-requisites, including the written and oral exams.

His promotion includes a six percent incremental salary increase.
