Beautiful, sunny autumn skies and seasonal weather greeted the approximately 250 entries for the 5th Annual Car Show @ Cabela’s on Sunday, Oct. 23. A collection of ghouls and goblins spooked attendees during the car show. Sal DeCanto had quite a collection both in and on his vintage 1940 Ford 2 door coupe.

Dennis and Gerry Dorshimer won Peoples Choice for Best of Show. 1st Place Car was awarded to Peggy Kleintop with 2nd Place going to Rory and Linda Hahn and 3rd Place awarded to Jeff Clay. 1st Place Motorcycle was awarded to Carl Hess.

No one ordered, nor seemed to overly mind, the persistent wind gusts that peppered the event throughout the day and the proverbial good time was had by all. They had a DJ, 50/50, Chinese Auction, and trophies. Of course you could wonder through Cabelas and get something to eat inside.

There was a $5 donation that benefited the Skylar Kauffman Scholarship Fund. According to Skylar’s obituary, Skyler, 9, of Souderton, passed away May 9, 2011. The charity show is promoted by Rayco Productions out of the Quakertown area and is hosted by the Cabela’s Hamburg store.

This event always seems to attract vehicles that don’t participate in other local shows and this year was no exception. There was an interesting mix of cars and trucks, some from out of state, scattered throughout the designated show lot and spilling over into an adjoining lot.
