The Exeter Community Library is pleased to accept a 2016-2017 Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) Grant in the amount of $10,000. These funds will support the program “Booking It” which will provide a collection of books, media and assistive technology for seniors at three local assisted living facilities; Berkshire Commons, Golden Living and SeniorLIFE.

Approximately once a month a representative of the Exeter Community Library will visit each facility with new books and media for participants as well as electronic reading devices. Training and assistance for the use of these electronic readers will be provided for participants to get the full benefit of this provision. The goal of the “Booking It” grant program is to improve the lives of seniors in a variety of ways including enhanced memory, stimulation of the mind and socialization skills as well as other benefits.

The grant spans the year from July 1st 2016 to June 30th 2017. This project is made possible by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services as administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Education through the Office of Commonwealth Libraries and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Tom Wolf, Governor.
