Living Love Ministries in Morgantown held its annual Friends of Living Love Ministries Banquet at Shady Maple Banquet Center on Nov. 18 to celebrate six years of operating its Children’s Home in Ol Kalou, Kenya.

This year Twin Valley High School National Art Honor Society partnered with Living Love Ministries to create African themed artwork for the silent auction.

“One of the members, Sarah Shugar (Junior at TVHS), had travelled to Kenya to dedicate the orphanage when it first opened in 2010, and it was a great reason for her to share with her fellow classmates about her experience with the children of LLM, as well as the sights and culture of the Kenyan Mission Trip,” said Eric Cressman, Communications Director of Living Love Ministries, Morgantown. “We are so grateful for the wonderful donations of art, they are truly gifted and talented artists, who exceeded our expectations!”

Living Love Ministries raised $750 just from donated artwork at the silent auction.

“And we were able to share our ministry with the students and their families,” said Cressman.

The Friends of LLM Banquet is used as time together to share news and videos from the Children and Employees of Living Love Ministries.

“The reason we gather each year is to thank our donor base and help spread the word to like minded individuals who might be interested in sponsoring a child, and to help raise necessary funds by bidding on a silent auction item or purchase an authentic Kenyan craft,” said Cressman. “Each summer we plan a mission trip open to interested donors who would like to travel to Kenya to meet their sponsored child face to face.”

This year the Kenyan Director of Operations, Solomon Mwangi, was able to join them at the banquet.

“To share with everyone how we are scaling the operation to feed, cloth and care for the vulnerable children entrusted to our care,” said Cressman.

In January the children transferred to a new Christian school, and in February a new husband and wife management team took over day to day operations of the farm and children’s home. They are currently building a new commercial kitchen to accommodate the new children who have moved into the newly built “Upendo” cottage which is now the girls dormitory that holds 20 girls. The boys live in the original farm house, and

“We provide much needed employment to the locals who help care for the farm and children,” said Cressman.

The American Board is tasked with raising the necessary funds, and donors to sponsor the children as they become residents of the Children’s home, while Solomon oversees the Kenyan operations along with a Kenyan Board of Directors.
