The Borough of Bally will see its first annual Christmas parade on Saturday, Dec. 3.

“We never did anything like this before in Bally,” said Mayor Dave Schott. “It’s a good thing to bring people to come together for the holidays.”

The parade route will run three blocks, beginning at the intersection of Ninth and Chestnut Streets at 10:45 a.m. It will then head towards the Bally Firehouse.

Santa is set to arrive in on a sleigh, weather-permitting.

The parade will feature two fire trucks, the local ambulance company, and special characters such as elves, polar bears, and reindeer. Organizers are hoping to get the local Boy Scouts involved, as well as the high school band.

“I hope the streets are lined with people,” said Schott, readying for the big day.

Santa will be at the firehouse from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to greet children and hand out candy canes. Arts and crafts will be taking place during this time as well.

Later in the evening, the borough will host its first annual Christmas Tree Lighting at 6 p.m. The Bally Lions Club purchased the tree and soon it will be set up in front of borough hall.

Residents are invited to bring an ornament to help decorate the tree.

As a part of the ceremony, refreshments such as hot chocolate and coffee will be served. Christmas Carols will be sung by the Bally Mennonite Group.

The Borough of Bally, the Bally Lions Club, and the Bally Firehouse have worked together to organize and sponsor these events.
