State Police Reading ruled a fire at Super Duper Seafood in Maidencreek Township as accidental.

A smoke alarm activated and a fire was discovered in the basement of the Super Duper Seafood at 8472 Allentown Pike, Maidencreek Township at 1:22 p.m. on Nov. 30. Customers had been present in the store at the time the fire was discovered. The building had been safely evacuated. No injuries were reported.

State Police Reading report that crews were able to contain the fire to the basement, which saved the entire structure.

The State Police investigation showed that the fire started in the area of the basement ceiling due to an electrical event. The fire has been ruled accidental.

Fire damage to the structure was minimal and is estimated at $20,000, not including smoke damage to the main floors of the building which is unknown at this time. Ritas Ice shares the building and was affected by smoke damage as well.

A Department of Agriculture representative responded to assess the damage to consumable goods, according to State Police.
