Seniors Rebecca Cobo and Garrett Moyer were honored as the Kutztown Rotary Club’s students of the month Dec. 7 in ceremonies at the Kutztown Tavern.

The award is presented to a senior from Kutztown Area and Brandywine Heights high schools each month on recommendations from school guidance counselors based on academic performance, school participation and community contribution.

Moyer, a student at Kutztown Area High School, is the son of Brian and Michelle Moyer, of Lenhartsville. He is vice president of the National Honor Society. He has participated in the Science Olympiad in eighth grade and all of high school, medaling at states several times. Moyer also played soccer starting in eighth grade to the present. He is in the Boy Scouts of America and has worked during the summer at the Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation, Sittler Golf Center and Dunkin Donuts.

Cobo is the daughter of Lisa Cobo, of Mertztown and attends Brandywine Heights High School. She is in the National Honor Society and the National Art Honor Society, plays for the tennis team and sings in the chorus, the choir and the Chamber Singers. In addition, she is in the art club and serves as president of the Anime Club. She volunteers weekly at the Brandywine Community Library and works at Dorney Park during the summer and at the beginning and end of each school year.
