Jan. 11Know Your Symphony: Valerie Trollinger will kickoff the next program on Wednesday, Jan. 11 at 7:p.m. Trollinger is the principal Bassoonist for the Reading A\\Symphony and will be discussing Saturday’s program featuring works by Mozart. The discussion will be at the Highlands if Wyomissing. Tickets are $5 and is sponsored by Penn State and the Reading Symphony Orchestra League.

Jan. 7Winter Get Outdoors Day: at Blue Marsh Lake from 1-3 p.m. Let’s move and get outdoors for a great day of winter fun. Learn about recreational opportunities in Berks County and surrounding areas. Try out some winter activities such as snowshoeing and learn about how animals adapt and survive for the winter. Please remember to dress appropriately for the weather. Co-sponsored with USACE Blue Marsh Lake and Spring Township.

Jan. 14Indoor Flea Market: St. Peter United Church of Christ, Route 23, Knauertown will hold an indoor flea market on Saturday, Jan. 14 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Space is available, for a nominal fee, inside Detterline Hall (there is limited table availability, please bring your own). Pagoda Writers: The Pagoda Writers group gets together from 1 to 3 p.m. the first Saturday of every month on the second floor of the Pagoda, 98 Duryea Dr., Reading.

Stitching Circle: The Mifflin Community Library’s Evening Stitching Circle meets every Monday from 6:30-8 p.m., and the Afternoon Stitching Circle meets every Wednesday from 1-3 p.m. New members are always welcome and should bring their own materials. There are currently between 12-15 members who sew, knit and crochet. The group works on personal projects as well as service projects to benefit the community. Come join in loads of fun & stitching!

Writers group: Mifflin Writers Group continues to meet the 1st & 3rd Thursdays of the month from 6:30-8 p.m. Mifflin Writers Group is composed of writers of all genres and levels of experience. Their purpose is to motivate, inspire, instruct, inform, share and critique each other in their writing efforts in a free flowing and relaxed atmosphere. Most programs encourage pre-registration and take place downstairs at the Mifflin Community Library unless otherwise noted.
