Is your resolution to make a difference in the new year? Looking for local ways to donate your time to improve the lives of others?
Volunteer options in our area can be explored at the Volunteer Fair Monday, Jan. 16, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., hosted by St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Route 662, Douglassville.
A complimentary luncheon will be provided, and prospective volunteers can discover opportunities that match their interests, time and abilities.
“The event will host a variety of nonprofit organizations, conveniently located all in one place,” said Jim Trout, organizer and committee chairperson. “The event is for anyone who’s thought about volunteering and would like to learn more about local causes and ways to support them.”
More than 18 nonprofit agencies from around Berks County will be on site, with a have a table set up, raising awareness of their organization. Nonprofits will have representatives on hand to meet with and discuss the goals and objectives of the organization, and how individuals can become involved in achievement of their mission.
Attendees can learn about the mission of each organization and decide where to focus their time and efforts. Attendees will have the chance to win dozens of door prizes and receive give-aways from the participating organizations.
Trout added, “This is a unique opportunity to come together to make a difference and support the great efforts of our community.”
The fair is an effort to bring together community members with local organizations, for a better community.

This event is FREE and open to the public and will be held in the Fellowship Hall of
St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 548 Old Swede Road (Rt. 662), Douglassville.
