Representative Charlie Dent (PA-15) Has been chosen by members of the Tuesday Group Caucus to continue serving as one of the organization’s co-chairs.
The Tuesday Group is a collation of more than 50 Center-Right oriented House Republicans. The members focus on the need to govern, specifically to perform the basic duties of government such as responsible budgeting and a better appropriations process.
“I am honored by the continued trust in my leadership that the members of the Tuesday Group have shown by naming me as a Co-Chair,” said Dent. “We face numerous challenges moving forward on issues ranging from health care to reforming the tax code and growing the economy to benefit workers and families. I look forward to working with my Tuesday Group colleagues to advocate for responsible, commonsense solutions to address these issues and to move America forward.”
Representative Dent will be joined by Representatives Elise Stefanik (NY-21) and Tom MacArthur (NJ-3).
“I look forward to working closely with Representatives Stefanik and MacArthur as co-chairs. They each bring valuable experience and ideas to the Tuesday Group that will be a great help as we navigate the major issues looming in the coming year,” Dent said.
Dent also has been selected to serve a second term as Chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee for Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies (MILCON-VA).
“It is a tremendous privilege and honor to be appointed for a second term as the Chairman of the Subcommittee responsible for meeting the needs of our veterans, our service members, and our military families. I look forward to continuing my work to support our troops and improve the quality and timeliness of the care received by our nation’s veterans throughout this 115th Congress. Moreover, I anticipate a strong and constructive working relationship with President-elect Trump’s Secretary of Veterans Affairs, our military service chiefs, and the leadership teams of Arlington National Cemetery and the American Battle Monuments Commission.
I am encouraged by the bipartisan progress that has been made in these areas throughout my past two years as Chairman, but there is certainly more that must be done. I appreciate the responsibility to advocate for our troops and veterans by improving the services and management of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), providing the resources that sustain our military’s readiness, and preserving the memories and resting places of our fallen heroes.
We owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to our veterans, those who continue to serve, and their loved ones. I thank Chairman Frelinghuysen, Speaker Ryan, and my colleagues in the House of Representatives for their vote of confidence in my continued leadership of this important Subcommittee.”
