DOUGLASSVILLE >> A Klein Transportation bus caught fire Tuesday morning, leaving the front end charred and destroyed.

The bus caught fire while it was parked outside Klein’s Douglassville location off Route 422 east early Tuesday morning, according to John Coakley, Klein’s vice president of operations.

Coakley said that no one had been around at the time of the fire and that he was unsure who managed to report the fire to authorities.

Fire crews quickly responded to the scene and put it out the fire, but the damage to the tour bus was extensive.

No injuries were reported.Coakley said the fire did not affect any of the Klein bus routes for the day.

“It’s pretty slow this time of year so it didn’t affect any passengers whatsoever. It’s just unfortunate. This kind of thing has never happened in our more than 60-year history,” said Coakley.

Coakley did not have a damage estimate for the bus and said that the cause of the fire is currently under investigation by authorities.

Luxury tour buses typically cost a minimum of $500,000 to purchase.
