Building a Better Boyertown (“BBB”) has begun a planning process to create a downtown master plan, a marketing and promotion plan and a business/ investor recruitment strategy for Boyertown.

The focus of this plan will be on the core of the downtown, however we will consider strategies to improve the greater Boyertown area as well. This community visioning and implementation plan will be created to help make Boyertown an even better place to live, work, dine, shop and play.

The BBB board has hired a consulting team led by Mark Evans of BartonPartners Architects & Planners, Graham Copeland of Downtown Dynamics and James Hartling of Urban Partners (market/ economic consultants) to facilitate this planning process.

BBB and their consulting team will work with Boyertown stakeholders and the larger community to develop a guiding vision and roadmap for the next five years. This will include the formation of Community Transformation Strategies as recommended by the National Main Street Center, to focus the organizational efforts and attract new private and public investment to the downtown district.

This ten-month process will provide Boyertown and BBB with downtown revitalization strategies and tools. It will consist of reviews of physical conditions, community assets and strategic partnership options, best practices and case studies of downtown revitalization, public participation through “listening” and visioning sessions, market research and analysis, and planning for Boyertown marketing and business recruitment.

The project will result in a downtown plan report and action plan with specific recommendations for implementation.

The current project schedule is as follows:

Task 1: Discovery & Listening – January & February

Task 2: Best Practices & Case Studies – March

Task 3: Market Research & Analysis – March & April

Task 4: Downtown Plan Alternatives – May, June & July

Task 5: Community Open House Meeting – June or July

Task 6: Marketing & Promotion Plan – July & August
