BIRDSBORO >> The Woman’s Club of Birdsboro is getting ready to host its annual “gourmet” bingo fundraiser – featuring all things food.

Beverly Killian, bingo chairwoman and a past president, says the club was trying to do something different than the average bingo event. All of the game prizes will be food-related, such as various kitchen essentials and gift cards.

This is the third year the event will be taking on this “gourmet” theme. Also to be featured: door prizes, homemade soups, barbecue, and baked goods will be available for purchase.

Killian says the club calls it their “foodie fun.”

Proceeds from this event will benefit the club’s service projects within the Birdsboro community such as funding high school scholarships, donations the fire company and police departments, supporting the library, and completing beautification projects.

“We’re very much involved here,” said Killian, adding how the club formed in 1937 and is getting ready to celebrate its 80th anniversary this year.

The bingo will be held Sunday, March 5, at the Birdsboro Community Memorial Center. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and the game will begin at 1 p.m. following lunch.

Tickets are on sale now, $25 for 25 games, and can be purchased at the community center or by contacting the club. Beverly can be reached at 610-582-1036 or my e-mailing <kbeverly@dejazzd.com>.
