“For character, devotion in leadership in District 14-P of Lions International and humanitarian service,” were the words on the plaque that Lions 14-P District Governor Gustave Meyer III presented to John J. Seitzinger Jr. at the Shartlesville Lions Club at the club’s latest meeting.
That award was sponsored by the Shartlesville Lions Club via a monetary donation to the Bing Miller Foundation in recognition of Seitzinger’s service of over the years that is still ongoing.
A Lion since 1954, Lion Seitzinger has served the club in various ways, including always being there early for the club’s two major fund-raisers, the pancake & sausage breakfast and the chicken barbecue, during his more than 60-year membership.
Even though an octogenarian, he still helps the club and does what he can to support various club activities, whether it is getting the filling for a club dinner or supporting the club in other ways.
In addition to District Governor Meyer presenting that plaque to Seitzinger, he also recognized two Lions for length of Lions service including Lorraine Hix for 15 years and Kevin Schrack for 20 years.
District Governor Meyer lauded the club members for being active and suggested the club have two socials annually to let more members of the community know about Lions service locally and worldwide and give those persons a better opportunity to join this service-oriented organization.
