Ayla Blatt of Kutztown Area High School, Nathanael Fay of Brandywine Heights High School, and Nate Guldin of Ole Valley High School, were honored by Kutztown and Fleetwood Rotary Clubs as students of the month in ceremonies at the Kutztown Grange, Feb. 1.

The award is presented to a senior from each of the schools once a month during the school year based on recommendations from their guidance counselors. The counselors, in turn, recommend on the basis of accomplishments in academics, school participation, and community contribution.

Blatt is the daughter of Brian and Susan Blatt of Kutztown. She has been a member of FFA since her freshman year of high school, and she currently serves as the president.

In the community, she is the president for the Northern Berks 4-H Dairy Club, the President of the PA Guernsey Youth Association, the past president of the Berks County Junior Holstein Club, and has volunteered with the Berks County Dairy Bowl/Jeopardy and Dairy Judging.

Blatt is a waitress and a part of the party staff at CJ Hummel’s Restaurant, Bar, and Gathering Place.

Fay is the son of John and Hannah Fay of Alburtis. He volunteers at the Trinity Baptist Church, the Kutztown and Reading Fairgrounds, the Pennsylvania Sheep and Wool Grower Association, and serves as a team leader at the Berks County 4-H Sheep and Lamb Club. Fay considers it a privilege to have shown two of his lambs to children from Touching the Future and Leap and Learn Childcare centers.

Fay played with baseball teams including Brandywine, Fleetwood, and Kutztown Youth Athletic Association.

Guldin has grown up with agriculture his entire life, working with his parents at their family business.

He is a member of FFA and has competed in the Dairy Cattle Evaluation, Land Judging, Agronomy, and Meat Judging. He has also received his FFA Keystone degree at the FFA Mid Winter Convention at the Pennsylvania Farm Show where he was awarded the State Star Keystone Degree in Agricultural Business. He is also active in community service efforts.

As his Supervised Agricultural Experience, Guldin started a custom large square bailing business, Guldin Farm Customs, which continues to be a success today.

During his free time, he enjoys spending time with his father and brother making hay and hunting deer and waterfowl.
