On Feb. 4, 131 Boyertown Area School District students travelled to Stroudsburg High School to compete in the Pennsylvania Technology Student Association (TSA) Region 9 Conference. Students from Boyertown Area Senior High School, Junior High East, and Junior High West joined 200 high school and junior high school students for a thrilling day of competition.
The Technology Student Association is the national organization for technology education students. Since 1978 it has grown to 150,000 high school, middle, and elementary students in 2,000 chapters spanning 47 states. As one of the eight Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) recognized by the federal government, the Technology Student Association provides middle and high school students with opportunities for leadership, teamwork, community service, personal growth and recognition.
Highlights from the day include the Boyertown Area Senior High School TSA Officer Team winning the Pennsylvania TSA Region 9 Inspiration Award for the second year in a row! The Inspiration Award recognizes chapters that build relationships with their communities. Through activities in their school districts, collaboration with other chapters, and service projects in their local and state communities, TSA chapters have an impact far beyond their day-to-day technology projects. This award celebrates these activities. In order to be considered, school chapters are invited to submit short essays describing their service and outreach activities.
Across all three schools, the day concluded with multiple students earning first, second, or third place finishes, which qualifies them to compete in the Pennsylvania TSA State Conference later this year.
