Rock School in Shoemakersville offers free music instruction for youth, ages 8 to 18, who cannot afford to take music lessons otherwise.

“Big hearts and music being ditched by schools and families that are poor prompted me,” said Lee Hartmen, owner and director of Rock School. “So many articles on the benefits of music that it just does not need to be explained. Music is everything and impacts everything we do! We ARE music.”

Rock School music teachers will be instructing on acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, piano, keyboard, and drums.

Hartman hopes to make a difference in the community by the Rock School offering free music lessons and also encourages others to help the community.

“This will make a HUGE difference in the way we as a people take care of each other by setting an example, becoming the mirror image that others that follow will hopefully immolate,” he said.

Opened in 1999, the “Rock School provides an avenue where youth may gain key developmental assets needed to become successful young adults. Our goal is to have music instruction available to all that want it, regardless of income.”

For free music lessons, parents may call 610-562-4488 and leave name of student interested, age, instrument they wish to learn, phone number, good time to be reached, and also mention that this information is for the Free Music Program. All messages will be returned ASAP with the next available day and time slot for lessons.
