Our Town Foundation and Jeremiah James joined forces for a successful fundraising event at the Hamburg Strand Theater on March 11.

Jeremiah James is a local singer and songwriter who not only performed along with his band, The Revival, but also did a meet and greet with a sold out audience.

During the performance Jeremiah sang many songs from his Augustus album, one of which is entitled “Caleb’s Song”. This song, which is not as mainstream as some of the others on the album, was written about the loss of his 3 1/2 month old son who died of SUID. Jeremiah stated that writing this song helped him deal with his son’s death and to accept it. He is hoping that the song helps others deal with their loss and grief if they are going through a similar situation.

The Strand Theater is one of the few live music venues of its type in the northern Berks County area. Jeremiah has a soft spot in his heart for the Hamburg Strand Theater. In his interview on Dave Smith’s “Step Up To the Mic” show on Pottsville’s radio station, T-102FM, he stated that entertainment has changed over the years and that we are losing live music venues. Jeremiah also stated that the theater is a great piece of history and he is glad that he was able to work with Our Town Foundation to hopefully kick off a successful journey in bringing this venue back.

The Hamburg Strand Theater, located at 6 S. Fourth Street, Hamburg, is owned by Our Town Foundation, a non-profit Community Revitalization Organization. All proceeds from this fundraising event will be used toward painting the lobby of the theater. Future events are being discussed to raise additional funds for other needed renovations.
