Seven students from the Daniel Boone High School FBLA attended the State Conference April 2-4 in Hershey.

Along with attending conferences, workshops, and acting as delegates to elect State and National officers, students had the opportunity to engage with industry leaders.

Students competed on the state level in several different events. Having qualified at the regional competition in December, Trisha Bhatt competed in Word Processing, Christine Kelly in Agribusiness, and Madison Okkerse in Public Speaking II. Luis Barrales Jr, Emily Konchan, Demi Kishbaugh, and Breana McNamara competed alongside them in a variety of open competitive events. Madison Okkerse took 2nd in FBLA Policies and Procedures in open events.

Daniel Boone represented the district well with several non-event recognitions. Although not in attendance, Senior Jacob Riley received an award “Membership Madness” for his new member recruitment and Trisha, as chapter president, for “Membership Mania” for enrollment increase. Community Service is a strong goal for the club, ten members were recognized for service and three received distinctions for the number of hours volunteered; Trisha Bhatt was 1st in the state, Jacob Riley 2nd, and Madison Okkerse 10th. In addition, Madison Okkerse was elected into the FBLA National Honor Society.

The chapter also received 3rd place in the state for collective community service hours and additionally was recognized as an Outstanding Chapter.
