Hamburg mom, aunt of Aaron’s Acres’ camper host 10th Ride for Autism Poker Run

Kristi Koinski, the parent of an Aaron’s Acres’ camper and a Hamburg resident, and her sister Sharon Bossler, co-organizer, of Bernville, are organizing their 10th Annual Ride for Autism/Poker Run to be held on Saturday, May 6.

On that day, bikers can register from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Blue Mountain Fishing Lakes, 60 Blue Mountain Road, Schuylkill Haven.

The rain-or-shine event will also end at Blue Mountain Fishing Lakes around 6 p.m. with five stops in between. The entry fee is $20 for drivers and $15 for co-pilots; all vehicles are welcome. Trophies for 1st and 2nd Place High Hand, door prizes, Chinese auction, music and a pig roast are all part of the entry fee. Expected to participate in 2017 are about 200 riders and 75 non-riders.

Proceeds from this successful fundraiser will benefit Aaron’s Acres for a seventh consecutive year. In 2016, over $4,400 was raised by riders and individual and corporate supporters, and over 90 miles were traveled for a great cause. In Berks County, Aaron’s Acres has offered Summer Camp and a monthly school-year recreational program for 16 years. South Mountain YMCA Camp (www.smymca.org) is the site of Aaron’s Acres’ Summer Camp once again in 2017. Proceeds from all fundraising efforts benefit families and participants in all counties served by Aaron’s Acres.

Aaron’s Acres provides individuals with special needs age 5-21 year-round therapeutically based age-appropriate recreational programs directed by specifically trained and certified staff in a supportive environment that enhances socialization and communication skills. Emotional, educational, and recreational support is offered for the entire family.
